Only nine weeks to go!
There is now only nine weeks to go until the Big Splash Mile for Sport Relief, taking place as part of the Swimathon Weekend 27-29 April 2012.
It’s not too late to get your entry in and raise money for Sport Relief while getting fit in the New Year. The Big Splash Mile is the perfect challenge to get you in the pool and you can take part individually or with family, friends or even your colleagues!
Even if you feel you can swim a mile easily, by raising money for Sport Relief you will be helping people living incredibly tough lives; both here in the UK, and across the world's poorest countries.
Did you know...
£1 could pay for a volunteer to make a friendly phone call to an isolated older person to help them overcome the difficulties in their lives and feel less alone.
£1 could provide a street child in India with the basic school materials they need to learn to read and write.
£5 could feed 10 vulnerable children living on the streets in India for one day.
£8 could pay for 10 children in Uganda to be tested for malaria so they can get a quick diagnosis and receive the life-saving treatment they desperately need.
£10 could pay for a young person with an eating disorder to talk to a support worker during a crisis when they feel they have no one else to turn to.
£12 could pay for a child living on the streets in India to receive a medical assessment.
£100 could pay for a day out for five young people affected by domestic violence, giving them the chance to spend time away from their family and develop trusting relationships in a safe and supportive environment.
£600 could pay a year’s rent on a shelter for children who live on the streets in India.
