Bristol City Community Trust Educational Courses in Football

BRISTOL CITY COMMUNITY TRUST is offering two exciting new educational courses in football.

Based at Ashton Gate Stadium, the Championship club are offering courses which will give players and coaches between the ages of 16 and 19 the chance to combine academic studies with a practical football experience. Delivered in partnership with Bridgwater College and Swindon Academy these courses combine academic studies with practical experience of being involved with a professional club.

One course provides students with the opportunity to study a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence pathway), whilst the other enables students to complete an NVQ Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Football.

The courses which are for school year 11 and 12 students, also involve representing Bristol City FC in competitive fixtures against other clubs and colleges and gaining valuable work experience with the Community Trust.

Students will need five GCSEs, or equivalent, at C grade or above for the BTEC course or four GCSEs, or equivalent, at E-C grade for the NVQ course. Both courses will start in September 2012.

Community Trust Teacher Ian Parkes said: “These courses will enable students to go to university, gain employment within Sport and Leisure or potentially work for the Community Trust.”

An open evening for potential students is being held in the Premier Lounge at Ashton Gate Stadium on Thursday 15th March from 7.00pm until 8.00pm. For further information on either course or to book a place at the open evening please call the community office on 0117 9630636.
