Social Netball making a come back in Avon
16 Back to Netball Groups took to the court for a Social Tournament at The Grange School Netball Centre in Warmley. 160 women from all over the county came together, many for the first time in years, to play some fun competiton against similar groups. It was great to see such a variety of groups come together and have so much fun on the Netball court!
Some groups had been training together for years and just fancied a bit of competiton whereas others were groups of friends that just got together for this tournament.

After some really impressive Netball skills, lots of laughter and sideline cheering we got to the playoffs where every team played for their overall placing out of 16. The semi final play offs were between Elevation, Frampton Flyers, Tyndall Tyrants and Bristol Pirates. Both Tyndall Tyrants and Bristol Pirates gave impressive displays to secure their place in the finals. So in the 3rd/4th playoff we had Elevation and Frampton Flyers and it really was a close game with both sides showing great skill and team spirit. Finals result: 1st Tyndall Tyrants, 2nd Bristol Pirates, 3rd Elevation and 4th Frampton Flyers.

‘I have really enjoyed today and I know my team got a lot out of it - we may have even encouraged a few new players to join our club, so it has obviously had the desired effect. I got loads of positive feedback from my own team and people from other teams, so I think it was most definitely a success’

'This was a really fantastic event which massively exceeded our expectations. It's great to see so many women getting back into netball and really enjoying themselves out on court. We hope to run similar events on a more regular basis as we now know how that there is a great demand for this type of opportunity.
