Wesport County Athlete Assessment Day finds Paralympic World Cup Athlete
A young star identified through the Playground to Podium initiative has been selected to compete at the 100m and 200m at the BT Paralympic World Cup 2012.
In 2010, Sophie Kamlish attended a County Athlete Assessment Day (CAAD) at Wesport where she was identified by England Athletics as having real potential within the sport. Following this event, she attended a UK Athletics Aviva Talent Introduction Day- where she was formally classified in the T44 group by UKA- for athletes with a below knee amputation.
Since being identified in 2010, the 15 year old has joined Team Bath and Rob Ellchuk’s training group of Paralympic World and Commonwealth Games Champions. Sophie has been training and competing regularly ever since.
