Olympic and Paralympic Volunteers Needed!
The West of England Sport Trust (Wesport) are looking for volunteers to help at Bristol’s Olympic and Paralympic events.
Bristol has had major involvement in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Bristol was one of the main cities on the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay route, it is hosting the Kenyan Olympic and Paralympic teams during their pre-Games training camp and is one of several Live Sites which will be showcasing all Olympic and Paralympic events. This provides a great opportunity for people in the West of England area to get involved with London 2012.
Wesport are working in partnership with Bristol City Council and the Bristol Kenya Partnership to recruit, train and manage volunteers from May through to September.
Volunteers are required for the following event:
Kenyan Pre-Olympic training camps:
The Kenyan Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be based at the University of the West of England and South Gloucestershire and Stroud (formerly Filton) College, from Sunday 1st July through to 27th August 2012, prior to entering the Olympic Village in London.
Hannah Davis, Bristol Olympic Programmes Volunteer Manager, said:
“It has been a pleasure working with so many enthusiastic volunteers leading up to and during the Olympic Torch Relay as it passed through Bristol. The volunteers had a crucial role in supporting route stewards and the Police in ensuring Bristol welcomed the torch safely and successfully. I am very much looking forward to working together with volunteers to provide support the Live Site to showcase Olympic and Paralympic events, and for the Kenyan athletes to make the most of their stay in Bristol.
I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up to this fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity. Even if you are only able to offer one evening of your time, your hard work will be greatly appreciated, and will contribute to the overall success of London 2012.”
