School Games September Update

Following a highly successful School Games in 2011/2012, planning is well under way for the new year of school sport.

The School Games this year will consist of Winter, Spring and Summer festivals featuring additional sports such as Trampolining and Cycling. These festivals are planned to include as many county finals as possible ensuring a great competitive and enjoyable experience for all those taking part.

The School Games is perfectly placed to create a lasting legacy for all young people in the West of England. By capitalising on the success of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which has ‘Inspired a Generation’ of young people to take part in sport and follow in the footsteps of the London 2012 heroes. We will ensure the sports at the festivals are as inclusive as possible and will feature disability specific sports such as Wheelchair Basketball and Table Cricket.

We are also offering the opportunity to challenge young aspiring sports photographers and reporters to submit local reports and photos from Level 2 School Games events into a countywide competition. The winners of which will then have the opportunity to attend a media-training day, which will prepare them to be the reporters and photographers at the Summer festival held at the University of Bath.
