Job Vacancy: Women and Girls Head Coach - Somerset Cricket Board
Salary: £20k – £21k depending on qualifications & experience + £3k car allowance
24 month contract with a view to extension (dependent on future funding)
Hours: 37 hours per week
The Somerset Cricket Board wish to appoint a Women & Girls Head Coach to inspire and lead the development of the women’s and girls’ game in Somerset by providing more and better opportunities to play cricket at schools, clubs and at representative level. The post is supported by the Cricket Foundation through the Chance to Shine programme.
The post has a significant remit and the successful candidate will be delivering on every level of the player pathway.
The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive schools coaching programme and enthuse girls to make cricket their summer sport of choice. Encouraging migration from schools to clubs, providing competition and training teachers are essential to the success of the role.
The post holder will also deliver on the SCB District and County Age Group programmes, becoming the lead coach for one of SCB’s girls’ teams.
Management and delivery on the successful SCB girls’ Emerging Player Programme will be a key part of the role. The programme has had a significant impact on the quality of girls’ cricket in the county and the successful candidate will be charged with continuing this improvement.
Somerset Women were relegated from the top tier of the ECB County Championship in 2012 and the successful candidate will become the head coach of the side and lead the very important and exciting rebuilding process.
The post will be based at The County Ground, Taunton and will have a county-wide remit.
The successful candidate will have significant coaching experience. You will be passionate about and committed to cricket coaching at a local and county level.
Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised using their own initiative.
You will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with good administrative and organisational skills. Equally you will be an excellent communicator with a passion for the development of female cricket.
Applicants must hold a full, clean driving licence and be able/willing to work evenings and weekends.
The post is for an initial 24 month fixed term period commencing from December 2012 and will be reviewed after the initial fixed period subject to securing future funding.
