London 2012 Olympic Games Sports Competition Schedule Published
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today published the full sports competition schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The schedule contains the full details of 19 days of sporting competition, including the times and venues for over 640 sessions, across more than 300 events, 39 disciplines, and 26 sports.
The sports competition schedule has taken over two years to develop, and has been approved by the IOC, 26 international sporting federations, and the Host City stakeholders for every Olympic Games venue.
Peter Keen, Director of Performance at UK Sport, said: “Today’s publication of the competition schedule for the London Olympic Games is an important landmark for all of the athletes working towards selection for Team GB in 2012, and of course their coaches and support teams.
“Knowing exactly when medals will be won is the final piece of the jigsaw, allowing detailed planning of Games-time performance strategies and bringing the whole occasion sharply into focus.”
The sports competition schedule is published exactly a month before London 2012 Olympic tickets go on sale. A total of 6.6 million tickets are on sale to the public from 15 March to 26 April 2011.
Sebastian Coe, LOCOG Chair, commented:
