The team that will be representing England in the Isle of Man at the beginning of September is comprised of some of the finest athletes of their generation and I know that they will wear the English vest with pride.
"The Commonwealth Youth games have been the stepping stone to greater glory for many athletes with CWYG medallists Alex Smith rising to be ranked number one in the Hammer in the UK, Michael Rimmer achieving a silver medal in the European 800m and of course Jessica Ennis now ranked number one in the world in the Heptathlon.
"Lawrence Clarke’s rise to fame was more meteoric having been in the CWYG in 2008 and then medalling in the hurdles at the senior event in Delhi in 2010. I would like to wish the whole team, athletes, coaches and management, every success and look forward to hearing of your achievements as the event progresses."
