Bristol Academy Women's Match LIVE on ESPN- 27th July 2011
After torrential downpour and a difficult game against Lincoln Friday evening, Bristol Academy Women's Football Club are promising an action-packed programme for their loyal ‘Barmy Smurf Army’ and new supporters, for this Wednesday’s match against WSL league leaders, Birmingham City FC.
Head Coach Mark Sampson comments:
“Our performance against Lincoln should have been good enough to take the points. In open play we had 19 attempts on goal to Lincoln’s 7 and dominated possession but the goals we conceded were disappointing. We knew Lincoln would be a threat from set plays and we didn’t deal with two corners and in the end that cost us dearly.
“We are just past half way and now in sixth place. After a defeat you want a chance as soon as possible to bounce back and to show a reaction, we have that with a big test against Birmingham on Wednesday. Birmingham are the current league leaders and we are delighted that due to our huge crowd attendances and the potential excitement of the match, ESPN have decided to broadcast the match live.
“We have got huge belief in what we can do and what we can achieve, we will get together and push together to make sure we get the rewards the quality of our football and the quality of the squad deserves.”
Bristol Academy WFC vs Birmingham City is this Wednesday 27th July, kick-off 7.30pm at Filton College’s WISE Campus, Stoke Gifford, Bristol. Supporters will see a spectacular of football and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere at the only purpose-built women’s footballing stadium within the country.
