Volunteers and Coaches Required for Cricket Projects in Africa
Cricket Without Boundaries is a community development and HIV / Aids awareness charity operating in Africa. Since its establishment in 2005 the charity has coached over 15,0000 children and trained 1,500 new ICC coaches across Africa with an additional emphasis on raising Aids awareness.
Based on their success since our Trust was established in 2005, they are now looking to recruit volunteers to deliver projects in Kenya, Rwanda, Botswana and Uganda.
Are you an enthusiastic cricketer, qualified coach or just general sports lover? Perhaps you are simply looking at the trip of a lifetime with the chance to give something back? You may have a passion for Africa, but just not had the chance to visit this amazing continent? Or are you just concerned at the alarming rate that HIV/AIDS is spreading across Africa?
If the answer is yes to one or all of these questions then volunteering for a project with Cricket Without Boundaries will give you the opportunity do something amazing rather than just think about it.
They are looking for volunteers to go on projects taking place in February and March 2012.
They are specifically looking for Project Leaders, Coaches (all levels), Coach and Umpire Tutors. But we also want general volunteers who have no coaching experience (training will be given to bring non coaches up to Introductory Coach
level).
The important thing is that you are:
- Motivated by helping others
- Able to work on own initiative
- Good communicator
- Able to complete an ECB Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Check
- Able to raise funds to support the project
- Interested in working in Africa
Each project will require 2 weeks to be spent in Africa and attendance at a training weekend in the UK leading up to departure.
The projects will include working with local schools, delivery of HIV / Aids awareness messages, training local people as coaches, umpires and scorers and acting as a representative of Cricket Without Boundaries within local communities.
Closing date for all applications is Friday 2nd September, 5pm.
Interviews will be held for all shortlisted volunteers at The Oval (date TBC) and on Sat 24th Sept, St Philips Chambers, Birmingham.
