Wesport Runs its First Sport Makers Workshops!
Sport Makers is an exciting new project that was launched last month in the West of England. Individuals can become a Sport Maker and help make sport happen in the West of England – from helping out with local sports clubs to setting up sport in your local community like fun runs or five-a-side football.
November saw Wesport run its first Sport Makers workshops which were held in Weston Super Mare and Bath. 30 people attended the workshops and are now on the path to complete their volunteer hours, encouraging friends, family and colleagues to get active in numerous sports and activities.
The workshops saw each Sport Maker look at the Olympic and Paralympic values and how they will use these in their volunteering, as well as the skills they may need to complete their role. The workshops also gave the volunteers a chance to access local volunteering opportunities.
If you would like to get involved in Sport Makers and become a sporting hero, simply go to www.sportmakers.co.uk and register your details. From there you will be able to access a Sport Makers workshop near you.
If your organisation is looking for more volunteers then why not promote this through Sport Makers. To advertise your opportunity please go to www.sportmakers.co.uk/become-a-provider and log your opportunity details on the system.
