Sports Forum Coordinator
The Swindon Sports Forum is the representative body for community sport in Swindon and represents over 400 community sports clubs, championing local community based sport, developing capacity to extend participation and to improve the quality of sports provision for Swindon residents
In seeking to increase the role and profile of the Sports Forum, working with our County Sports Partnership we are now looking to recruit an individual to coordinate and promote grassroots sports in Swindon. The Sports Forum Coordinator will work directly with the Swindon Sports Forum and the wider sport and activity partnerships in the Borough to achieve their objectives of supporting and strengthening local clubs and growing participation in sport in Swindon.
The post is initially for 2 years with funding provided by the Community Initiatives Fund and Sport England and support from Wiltshire and Swindon Sport. The post holder will be employed and managed by Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) with the work programme jointly determined by the Sports Forum Business Plan and WASP.
Main roles & responsibilities
Support the Swindon Sports Forum through active engagement with community sports clubs and ensure their views are communicated to the Forum to help adapt and deliver the Sport Forum business plan.
Advocate on behalf of community sport in Swindon
Build capacity and support improvements in governance of community sports clubs
Promote and extend participation in community sport by all residents of Swindon
Actively contribute to the long-term sustainability for the ambitions of the Sports Forum
The candidate should be able to demonstrate; Knowledge of the sporting landscape and/or knowledge of current initiatives and programmes supporting clubs and community sport. Knowledge and experience of building partnerships and working with multiple organisations to achieve goals. Knowledge and experience of working with volunteers and/or voluntary groups.
The candidate should be educated to degree level, ideally within the sports development area. Have good IT skills and able to use the basic tools in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. They will be able to demonstrate the skills and qualities that build good partnerships and positive working relationships.
The candidate must be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and weekend.
Salary range £18,000 to £21,000, plus benefits, dependant on experience.
