Junior Club Coach

SGS College- WISE campus

Salary Range: £10 per hour (Salary is dependent on level of qualification and experience)

This will be a self-employed position and require a minimum level 1 athletics coaching qualification or be working towards one.  This may also suit someone looking for an internship and link to other areas of the college coaching programme.

Hours: 2.5 hours per week (Monday Evening) Approximately 39 Weeks.

This will be based at the Kip Keino Athletics Stadium, WISE Campus at SGS College.

Our experienced and passionate staff work hard to help our juniors learn the fundamental movement skills needed to develop and progress within their athletics, through fun and engaging sessions and move onto learning skills for the various event groups.

This role will involve coaching junior athletes in our community club programme within primary and secondary school ages.  Our early session will look to develop fundamental movement skills and introduce elements from all event groups, ensuring that the sessions are fun and engaging, retaining and growing participants throughout the year.  As an assistant coach you may be working alongside another coach or work close by with a group of children.

Our later session will be working with secondary age children where we will look at integrating them into specialist event groups and will require experience in Sprints or Jumps.  Children in this group may have progressed from the early session or be new starters, therefore it is essential to maintain the coaching of fundamental movement skills whilst introducing them to event specific skills.  Each coach will look to retain numbers, liaise with other coaches for alternative event coaching, improve performance and encourage participants to work towards competition.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Disclosure Certificate, Enhanced with Children’s Barred list check, as a requirement of the job.
