Satellite clubs can help bridge the gap between school, college and community sport – and provide new opportunities for young people to get active. This programme is designed to be young person lead and developed in partnership with the group you are working with!
Wesport co-ordinate the Satellite Club programme for the West of England and are pleased to announce funding for NEW satellite clubs to be established in 2018 – 19. There are some key priorities which must be met, these include working with:
- Young people aged 14 – 19
- Female only focussed delivery
- Young people from lower socio economic groups
- Young people with disabilities
Funding is available for 2 years’ worth of delivery with the maximum available for clubs set at around £3,000. Clubs should deliver a minimum of 20 weeks of activity per year for at least an hours session and be able to demonstrate appropriate minimum standards including:
- Level 2 coaching qualification
- Safeguarding protecting children certificate
- Public Liability Insurance
- Current and up to date DBS
- First Aid Qualification
Wesport run an open application system and consider potential projects throughout the year. We ask partners to complete an application and can work with projects to ensure minimum standards are in place.
If you work with a group of young people and need help to develop your ideas – please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss this opportunity further!
