healthy living

Wesport has adopted the European Charter definition for sport which talks about a wider benefits from physical activity over and above the traditional sporting activities.

Through the West of England our network is developing a range of programmes to engage our communities in healthier living and lifestyles and helping those in greatest need to use physical activity as a means to improving their quality of life.

Some example of this work includes:

Health Referral Schemes such as Passport to Health in Bath & NE Somerset which allows healthcare professionals to refer inactive individuals with a range of other health-related risk factors to a supervised activity and lifestyle change programme.

Exercise Classes for the Over 50's, Walking Initiatives, Dance Programmes and much more.

Wesport will also be working with a range of agencies to help encourage and support and change in culture throughout the West, leading to more active lifestyles. These agencies will include Primary Care Trusts and Youth Groups to Town Planners and Facilities Providers.
