Sportivate
Wesport view the coaches that are registered on Coachwest as pivotal to supporting the delivery of Sportivate and would therefore like to provide you with the opportunity to benefit from and shape the success of the programme.
Sportivate will capture the excitement of sport and London 2012 to provide attractive and sustainable sporting opportunities for teenagers and young adults in the sport of their choice within their community.
Due to launch in April 2011 and run until March 2015, the £32 million of National Lottery funding aims to encourage nearly 300, 000 young people, nationally, aged between 14 and 25 the chance to receive six weeks of coaching in a port of their choice.
It is aimed at young people who are not currently choosing to participate in sport during their own time and will support them to continue playing sport in their community after the six week projects finish.
Wesport view the coaches that are registered on Coachwest as pivotal to supporting the delivery of Sportivate and would therefore like to provide you with the opportunity to benefit from and shape the success of the programme.
The aim of the funding is to encourage more of this target age group to get involved in sport and then to continue playing sport preferably in a sports club. It therefore makes sense that the coaches are a pivotal part of this and Wesport are therefore giving you the chance to apply for funding to support the delivery of a project within your club or facility.
The basic criteria –
- Must target 14-25 year olds
- The project must have an option to be sustainable
- An exit route e.g. a club session must be available for participants to continue the sport.
- Coaches must meet the West of England Minimum Standards of Deployment.
- The sessions delivered must be attracting new participants to your sport
To register your interest in receiving funding you will firstly need to complete project idea form. This just needs to brief responses to each of the questions, so that we can help you shape the project and then complete the funding application form with you. This form can be accessed here.
To allow us to discuss your project ideas with you, we are therefore hosting a question and answers session on the 5thMay at the University of the West of England from 7pm-8pm. If you would like to attend this session please contact Richard Colman, Coaching Development Manager on 0117 328 6266 or e-mail richard.colman@uwe.ac.uk
