School Games

Across the Wesport area, we already have a great foundation of school competition to build the School Games on. We will be looking at the current competition calendars of all Primary and Secondary schools and ensuring we complement these by offering additional opportunities and clear pathways for talent ID and links into community sport.
The School Games operates locally at 3 Levels.
- Level 1: Intra competition, within the school leading into a school festival
- Level 2: Inter competition, school teams competing against other local schools
- Level 3: Wesport wide multi-sport School Games Festival. Opportunity for schools across the Wesport area to compete in the County finals of certain competitions and also take part in some open entry events. (for more local information on Level 3, please see the feature on the left hand side)
Each county area has to set up a Local Organising Committee (LOC) which will strategically lead on the School Games and ensure the Level 3 Multi-Sport festival is delivered successfully. Feeding into this committee is an operational group which will agree the sports/formats/year groups of the Level 3 event and ensuring that the Level 2 competition calendars feed in. There will also be opportunities for young people to get involved as Young Leaders and officials as well as ensuring there is a cultural element to the festivals at all levels.
We are keen for any local businesses who wish to sponsor the event, to get in touch and we can discuss the packages available. Please e-mail sponsorship@wesport.org.uk

School Competition WebsiteThe School Competition website was developed 4 years ago by the previous Competition Manager team to provide a central administration hub for inter-school competition across the West of England. Due to the ending of national competition manager funding in July 2011, this site is now self funded by the schools who use it.
