Safeguarding and Protecting Children

Wesport run numerous Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshops throughout the year and is by far our most popular course.

This course is accredited by UK Coaching (used to be called Sport Coach UK), the NSPCC and the Child Protection in Sport Unit and will raise your awareness of the telltale signs of abuse and poor practice, and give you the tools you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career.

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching
  • explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise their potential impact on your response
  • recognise and respond to possible signs of child abuse
  • take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.

Please note: You must be over 16 years to attend the course. If aged 16-18 years you must attend with an adult 18 yrs plus. Please contact Wesport if you have any questions on this.
