2022 PE Conference

Due to circumstances beyond our control the Primary PE conference has been cancelled. If you booked a place, please check your emails for further information or contact andy.blackmore@wesport.org.uk.

As part of our support for primary schools around the School Sport Premium Funding we offer a West of England Primary PE Conference every year. The content is led by the needs of the schools in the area, helping schools to develop their PE, School Sport and Physical Activity provision.

After yet another successful PE conference last year, we are delighted to announce that we are now taking bookings for the 2022 PE Conference.

This year the conference will be at SGS College (Wise Campus) on Thursday 20th October and as always will be packed with great speakers, practical demonstrations, external PE providers and provide a great opportunity to network with other PE / Primary specialists.

The format of the conference this year is:

Morning

  • Keynote speaker, Dr Durden-Myers
  • 4 mini seminars in the morning which everyone attends

Afternoon

  • Lunch with marketplace and networking opportunities
  • Your choice of 2 out of the 4 practical sessions each lasting 45 minutes

Keynote speaker

Dr Liz Durden-Myers – Lecturer at Bath Spa University and University of Gloucestershire

With physical literacy and fundamental movements being a key focus within primary PE now, we are honoured to have Dr Durden-Myers agree to present at this year’s conference.

In her keynote address, Liz will explore what physical literacy is and how physical education practitioners can promote and create a meaningful PE, School Sport and Physical Activity offer that gets more children off to the best possible start in the pursuit of being active for life.

For a deeper insight into the expertise they can provide, Wesport produced a Primary PE Podcast, for which they were a guest and talked at length about physical literacy.
